ACT WorkKeys Assessments
A student enrolled in an English 11, AP English Language and Composition, or IB English Language & Literature course is required to earn verified credit in Reading and/or Writing to graduate with a standard or advanced studies diploma. A brief overview of the alternative WRITING assessment is provided below. Assessments are administered in-person at school, under secure testing conditions. Format and timing may vary for students with IEP, 504 Plan, and/or English learner (EL) plan, in accordance with documented test accommodations. Students are required to sit for the READING SOL for federal participation, however, once this has occurred if a student does not pass the Reading SOL, there is an alternative assessment to earn the needed verified credit for graduation.
The county provides approximately 8-9 windows of opportunity, one of which is dedicated to the English 11 assessment.
