MS Algebra 1

Outcome:

By June 2024, the percentage of Math 7 students enrolling in Algebra 1 or Algebra 1 HN for 8th grade will increase from 30% to at least 40%.

Goal:

Successful completion of Algebra 1 by 8th Grade.

Strategy 1:

Increase systems of support during the school day, after school and summer to help students achieve success in mathematics.

Strategy 2:

Improve teachers’ implementation of the Framework for Engaging & Student-Centered Mathematics Instruction.

Strategy 3:

Improve academic advising processes to encourage students to open enroll in Math 7 Honors or Algebra 1/H.

MS ELA

Outcome:

On the Fall 2023 Reading Inventory, 143 students scored below basic and 271 students scored basic. By Spring 2024, at least 75% of these students will reach their minimum expected growth on the Reading Inventory, compared to 55% meeting expected growth last year.

Goal:

Growth and performance in coursework.
Growth and performance on state/national/international assessments in reading.
Evidence of progression towards or successful completion of advanced coursework.

Strategy 1:

Maximize daily instruction and practice in word recognition, reading comprehension, and grammar (Lexia PowerUp).

Strategy 2:

Utilize small groups and intervention to increase opportunities for students who need more practice to master standards.

Strategy 3:

Utilize WIDA tools and rubrics to support language development.

HS Performance in Coursework

Outcome:

By the end of 2023-2024 final grades, English Learners earning a C- or higher in all classes will grow from 61% to 70%, and students receiving Special Education services earning a C- or higher in all classes will grow from 74% to 83%. This is a growth of 9% for each of these subgroups, to get them closer or equal to the overall student body's 83% attainment.

Growth and performance in coursework.

Strategy 1:

Increase student course success through Tier 2 interventions.

Strategy 2:

Increase development of literacy skills and habits of mind across disciplines.

Strategy 3:

Monitor student data and use data to determine need for intervention and additional support.

HS Progression to Advanced Coursework

Outcome:

By June 2024, at least 25% of 10th -12th graders will successfully complete a High Quality Work Based Learning Opportunity, an increase from 3.7% currently.

Goal:

Evidence of progression towards or successful completion of advanced coursework.

Strategy 1:

Increase teaching via authentic issues that provide opportunities to consider future career pathways.

Strategy 2:

Improve student engagement through consistent rigorous and relevant learning experiences.

Strategy 3:

Develop and monitor annual course plans for students beginning in 8th grade to ensure enrollment in advanced coursework and/or CTE pathways.

Discipline

Outcome:

By June 2024, there will be a decrease in discipline disproportionately amongst the Hispanic and ELL populations (HS) and the Hispanic, ELL, FRL, and Black populations (MS) compared to the student body.

Goal:

Disciplinary disproportionality and recidivism.

Strategy 1:

Implement required Tier 1 SEL and PBIS practices using time protected by the master schedule and lesson plan expectations.

Strategy 2:

Utilize an MTSS framework to establish and organize a schoolwide continuum of proactive behavior and wellness supports.

Strategy 3:

Develop and monitor annual course plans for students beginning in 8th grade to ensure enrollment in advanced coursework and/or CTE pathways.
