Congratulations to Ms. Jennifer McCabe on being recognized as the April 2022 Region 4 FCPS CARES Recipient of the Month by the FCPS Department of Human Resources.

The FCPS CARES Program is an opportunity for parents, staff, and community members to recognize FCPS employees for going above and beyond to help others and show they care. We invite you to submit your story below, so we can all acknowledge the good work of FCPS employees.

Below is the write-up submitted by a Carson MS eighth-grade student.

Mrs. McCabe is truly the most genuine and caring teacher I have witnessed when interacting with students. She is tough on them because she has high expectations and goals for them, but is also incredibly understanding and able to make true connections with them. One way I have seen this recently is with one of our students who is moving to another district. Mrs. McCabe put together a going away card for her and when she gave it to her, she told the student how special she was and that 'if she ever forgot that, to email her so she could remind her.' The student was almost in tears, saying that now she didn't want to go when, previously, she was extremely neutral, ready to go any second. Mrs. McCabe has this effect on many students, breaking down their walls and making them feel seen, which I believe is the main job of a teacher. She is a true inspiration to anyone in this profession.
