We also encourage you to get to know them by reading their introductions below.

Introducing Our New Middle School AP, Lorie Ward

Lorie Ward

Ms. Lorie Ward has been named a Middle School Assistant Principal at Lake Braddock. After being an Acting Assistant Principal over the last school year, she is excited to be able to continue serving and supporting the Lake Braddock school community in this role. Lorie just completed her 15th year at Lake Braddock, where she began her career as an English 8 teacher on the Middle School Green Dragon Team, teaching language arts and also serving for a time as CT Leader, before moving into an administrative position. She found her years in the classroom to be very rewarding, and although her job at Lake Braddock has changed, her commitment to supporting students and nurturing their success continues to motivate her every day. Lorie is a career-changer who discovered her passion for the field of education while volunteering in schools for her own three children during their younger years. From there, she pursued her Alternative Route to Licensure at the UVA School of Continuing and Professional Studies and began her career at Lake Braddock. Lorie earned her Bachelor of Arts in English, with a Double Major in Spanish from Virginia Tech, her Juris Doctorate in Law from the University of Richmond School of Law, and her Master’s in Education Leadership from George Mason University. Before becoming a teacher at Lake Braddock, Lorie also worked as an AVID Tutor at three FCPS schools. Throughout her years at Lake Braddock, Lorie has enjoyed working alongside her dedicated colleagues to make a positive difference for students, and she looks forward to those continued collaborations on behalf of all Bruins.

Introducing our new Subschool 2 AP, Brian Olmes

Brian Olmes

Brian Olmes is a passionate educator with a diverse professional background. He began his career in FCPS as an ESOL teach and wrestling coach at Robinson Secondary School. After 14 years in the classroom, he became an Assistant Principal and worked at Annandale HS and Fairfax HS. In 2019, he and his family moved to Idaho where he was a Principal at an elementary school for 4 years. He is extremely excited to be returning to Virginia and joining the incredible Lake Braddock community. He, along with his wife and two children love hiking, going to the beach, and going to sporting events (especially Lake Braddock)!

Subschool 3 Welcomes Anna Weaver

Anna Weaver

Anna is coming to Lake Braddock after 13 years at Fairfax High School where she led the Social Studies Department. Passionate about rich thinking and collective learning experiences for students and staff alike, Anna served as a Tier 1 Lead coordinating CTs and designing professional development. As an Academic ESSER Lead, she collaborated with school leaders and students to reimage after school detention, develop flexible tutoring supports, and design efficient MTSS structures. Described by students as “based” and “iconic”, she is welcoming, approachable, and dedicated to celebrating students’ individuality. When not at school, you’ll find Anna gardening, canning, hiking, and watching old school horror movies.

Introducing our new SPED AP, Sally Stickels

Sally Stickels

I am excited to join the Lake Braddock Secondary Team. Prior to coming to LBSS, I worked in various special education positions here in Fairfax County. My career started as a comprehensive service site and public day special education teacher at Laurel Ridge Elementary and I then transitioned into several special education lead positions. Most recently I was the middle school department chair at Robinson Secondary.

I am a proud graduate of JMU where I earned my Masters in Special Education K-12, as well as a graduate certificate in the Autism Spectrum Disorder program. After several years in the classroom and lead positions I returned to school to earn my Masters in Education Leadership through George Mason University.

When I’m not working you can find me visiting friends and family at Lake Anna or in my hometown of Annapolis, Md. I enjoy spending time outdoors with my dog, Benny. I also enjoying playing on several tennis and pickle ball teams here in Northern VA. I look forward to working with the Lake Braddock Community.
