The Virginia Civics Seal is awarded to high school seniors who demonstrate academic skill in history and government, exemplary citizenship, and service to their community.
What Does The Civics Seal Look Like?
It is a gold seal that will be displayed on your Lake Braddock Secondary School diploma.
What Do I Have To Do To Earn The Civics Seal?
- Earn a final grade of “B” or better in both US/VA History (11th grade) and United States Government (12th grade).
- Complete 50 hours of documented voluntary community service.
- Have good attendance and no disciplinary infractions – as described on page one of the Civics Seal application.
Fairfax County Public Schools Service Cord
All seniors earning the Virginia Civics Seal will also be awarded the FCPS Service Cord. The cord identifies students who have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to serving others and will be worn during the Lake Braddock graduation ceremony.
