Congratulations to middle school social studies teacher Jane Gordon on being recognized as the September FCPS Cares Recipient of the Month by the FCPS Department of Human Resources. Congratulations, Mrs. Gordon!

Below are the three write-ups submitted by Mrs. Gordon's colleagues.

As a teacher of American history, Jane exemplifies what it means for educators to connect what is happening in the world outside of school to what happens in the classroom. She mobilized the Lake Braddock School community to donate their time and much-needed goods to help victims of the recent Hurricanes. At the same time, through service learning, her work taught students how their collective actions will make a meaningful difference to others in our nation during a period when the support is so very critical.

Ms. Jane Gordon goes above and beyond, in and outside of the classroom. With the tragedy left by Hurricane Harvey, she took it upon herself to organize and run a donation drop at our school. With her efforts, the school was able to get this underway in no time and the buy-in from students and staff was INCREDIBLE! Jane, you are an amazing individual and I appreciate all that you do.

Jane Gordon organized a program to collect and deliver donations to Hurricane Harvey victims. She involved the students, faculty, and community in this effort. Great job!
