Students will:
- Adhere to all FCPS rules and regulations.
- Become knowledgeable of the school-wide Honor Code.
- Demonstrate academic integrity.
- Accept the consequences if the Honor Code is violated.
Parents will:
- Support the academic integrity of the school community.
- Become knowledgeable of the school-wide Honor Code.
- Provide a positive example for adhering to the Honor Code.
- Support the consequences if the Honor Code is violated.
Teachers will:
- Maintain and support the academic integrity of the school community.
- Have students write and/or sign the Honor Pledge on all assignments, tests and quizzes.
- Review the Honor Code during the first week of the school year and periodically throughout the year.
- Teach or review correct use of documentation when assigning work.
- Specify the types of collaboration that are acceptable and those that are not acceptable.
- Take immediate action when violations occur:
- Counsel the student.
- Contact the student’s parent/guardian.
- Record a failing grade for the assignment with no opportunity for make-up work. (NOTE: Teacher definition of a failing grade for an Honor Code violation will be clearly stated on the syllabus at the beginning of the school year.)
- Refer the violation to the Honor Council Chairperson.
- Confer with the assistant principal if necessary.
- Abide by the decision of the Honor Council.
Administrators will:
- Maintain and support the academic integrity of the school community
- Assure that all faculty, students, and parents adhere to the LBSS Honor Code.
- Maintain cumulative records of reported violations of the Honor Code.
- Administrators will take disciplinary action and administer fair consequences for Honor Code
- violations.
