Middle School Schedule Issues

Back to School News - 2019-2020

August 2019

Dear Parent/Guardian of a Middle School Student,

Prior to the start of school, students will have an opportunity to pick up their class schedules and locker assignments during Bruin Blast on Thursday, August 22nd from 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM.

On the first day of school your son/daughter should report to his/her first block class.  First period teachers will distribute purple student schedules to each student. Students must pick up a PURPLE schedule on Monday, August 26th to ensure accurate enrollment.   Students who are unable to pick up their class schedules during Bruin Blast will find alphabetical student lists with the name and room number of their first period teacher posted outside the main office (door 1) and MS Student Services (door 15).  Student schedules will also be accessible through SIS ParentVue and SIS StudentVue accounts after August 22nd. Staff will be in the hallways to direct students to their first period class as needed.

As we have communicated previously, instructional staff has been hired and assigned to classes based on students’ course selections.  Therefore, student requests for course change will be made only to correct errors. Please advise your son/daughter to come to Middle School Student Services on the first day of school, between periods, only if:

  • He/she does not have a full schedule of 7 classes.  Each student should have four core classes (English, math, science, and social studies), a physical education class, and two elective classes.

  • He/she is in the wrong level of a core class.

  • He/she has a concern about a year-long world language class.

These will be the only schedule changes that will be made between August 12th and September 6th.  All other requests will be considered between Monday, September 9th and Friday, September 13th.  Students who are requesting a schedule change will be required to complete a Schedule Change Request Form that must be signed by a parent/guardian.

We look forward to seeing your son/daughter on the first day of school!

Sincerely,

Anne C. Polino
