On December 4th, all LBSS 8th graders participated in the Hour of Code with support from Amazon Web Services. Hour of Code is a worldwide movement to expose students to computer science and computer programming through a one-hour introduction module. AWS sent 31 volunteers to facilitate the event and talk to our students about careers in technology. High school Business & IT, Marketing and Computer Science students also had the opportunity to volunteer to support the 8th graders and learn about technology career opportunities. By the end of the event, 721 8th graders completed one hour of code and 63 high school volunteers expanded their worldview about technology careers. This event could not have been a success without the tremendous support from LB teachers, administration, and Amazon Web Services volunteers.

All students can participate in the Hour of Code on their own by visiting our HoC webpage
